Bolton Lancaster
With youthful aspirations of becoming a writer for National Geographic or the next Woodward/Bernstein, Bolton studied print journalism before pivoting to documentary filmmaking early in his career. He had come to the realization that very few people are still willing to pay for their news, and even fewer are willing to hold a broadsheet. Instead, he embraced his passion for production and transitioned his content from words to videos.
Bolton enjoys crafting and telling stories, as well as finding the most efficient ways to make those stories come to life. During his time at Mighty, he’s helped produce Microsoft flagship events, speaker series with celebrities, This Week on Xbox, segments for the Consumer Electronics Show and international Xbox shoots. He’s also played a role in helping build the accessibility team, spearheading efforts to provide ASL interpretation for Microsoft content.
Before joining Mighty, he worked on a wide range of unscripted content, including the seven-time NAACP Image Award-winning documentary series Unsung. The series profiles R&B and hip-hop artists and gave him an opportunity to meet the likes of Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson and Snoop Dogg, as well as discover his passion for early R&B music.
Having spent his high school years in the Seattle area, his college years in Miami and parts of his professional career in Los Angeles and New York, Bolton likes to brag that he's knocked out all four corners of the country and is a firm believer that the upper-left one is best. He’s also a HUGE fan of the local Seattle sports teams.
